You often hear the term “the power of positive thinking.” While the power of positive thinking is very real, it is often misunderstood. For example, buying a lottery ticket and “thinking positively” will not improve your chances of winning at all. Positivity breeds success, and thinking positively is an attitude towards life in general which will lead you to make better decisions, not give up on your goals and aspirations, which will, in turn, make you healthier and happier in every way. How much does confidence breed success? Confidence is the thing you feel inside of you when you know “you can do it.” When you have confidence, you get good at whatever it is you like to do. And when you get good at what you like to do, you become confident. Positivity breeds success, and it also breeds happiness. When you are confident and positive, you will achieve success. When you are successful, you attract other positive and successful people to your life. Remember, everyone loves a winner. Go out there, be positive, be confident, work towards what you want and you will succeed.

Everyone who is fortunate to have a job wants to know that their job serves a purpose – it has meaning. Of course, there is no point whatsoever in having a high powered job if you hate every minute of it. Many people have discovered the benefits of positivity and happiness in a menial job which doesn’t pay much but which they love. The science of working smarter and happier comes from knowing that what you’re currently doing is going to count for the future. What you’re doing now is part of your long-term goals. You can only really accomplish anything in your job when you love it – when you spring out of bed in the morning rearing to get started. Self-confidence is a common trait among the absurdly successful, but is it their success that led them to be confident, or their confidence that led them to be successful? Psychological research into self-worth reveals this as a two-way street. That is not to say that self-confidence is a surefire way to succeed, as confidence needs to be tempered with experience and intelligence if it is to truly be a boon to you as a person. There are many Tips for improving self-confidence, some of which can applied easily and quickly, every single day of your life. Don’t feel the need to compare yourself to others, you are unique, and your worth is not dictated by what you have accomplished, but by what sort of person you strive to be. Exercise when you can, not only will this improve your health, but it also floods your bloodstream with chemicals that can naturally improve your feeling of self-worth. Focus on the things that you can change, not everything is up to you, but there are things that are might be improved by your insight, so do your best. Most importantly, it is important to know that becoming a more confident person doesn’t happen overnight. It takes real concerted effort, even just small changes over a period of time, that can add up to a real feeling of progress and better self-esteem. It is also important to note the potential help of medical professionals, as while mental illness such as depression is often derided by the fortunate and ignorant, it is still a very common illness that has affected many people throughout history, though now we have the evolving medical and psychological fields to combat the problem. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from the professionals and keep on making progress.
Positive thinking does not mean that you should ignore a difficulty. It is, in fact about approaching an unpleasant situation in a productive and positive way. The thought that good things will come out eventually can actually help. Positive thinking starts with talking to self. Talking to self is running thoughts in your head. The thoughts can be negative or positive. Most of the self-talk arises from two things viz. logic and misconceptions. If the thoughts that you have are negative your approach will be pessimistic. You can change this by practicing it consciously. It takes time but it can be done. There are obvious health benefits of a positive outlook towards all situations. They include increased life, better immune system, less stress and fewer chances of heart ailments. The reason for positive thinkers being healthier is because they can cope better with stress. Stress is the major reason for bad health and positive thinking the way to counter it. All we need is to be positive.
I’ve said it before, I believe nature has a cure for everything. Just listening to the news everyday and being aware of what is going on around us, is enough to make anyone ill. I seriously believe that the body’s ability to protect itself from illness can be enhanced by a number of factors actually – the way you think, the way you deal with stress and the nutrition you receive. I’m game for trying natural therapies that really work like yoga as I’ve previously mentioned, but aromatherapy is also gaining my interest. I suppose as a nature lover, its because aromatherapy is where pure essential oils are extracted from plants for fantastic therapeutic purposes.
The oils all have their own aromas and healing properties. I’m thinking of rose, geranium, camomile, eucalyptus, lavender, jasmine and rosemary among others. The oils are absorbed into the skin to treat things like anxiety – something I’m sure we’re all suffering with. What I love is that you can use them in your bath, in inhalers and in massage and they’re pretty safe as I’ve since discovered that they are beneficial for people of all ages. I’ll share more about them in the future, but just do research in the meantime before using them.
Possibly like a number of people I am struggling to feel positive with the world right now. The atrocities and murders in last month have you wondering what is the point. The cacophony of feeling I have, hurt, anger, distress, confusion, sadness, the list goes on. All of that will be nothing compared to what the victims, their family and friends are feeling. I honestly cannot see any stars in this darkness.
There again you have to look don’t you? If you walk with your head to the ground you will never see the stars. You have to make the effort. Nothing is easy these days but you can look for the good, in fact you have to, it will not come knocking on your door. My wife and I had not planned to visit our family In India this year but decided we want to. Skyping is great but we want to feel the physical bonds, hold each other be in the same space. If we had known we would be going I guess we would have aimed to be there for Diwali but just being there will be enough. Whichever time we choose we would have to organise a loan, in advance of us going, so we can organise and purchase the tickets, I found an online company that we are favouring, their loan application appears very straightforward. We plan to go after the Christmas travel is over some time in January, dates not set as we both want to spend some affirmation time at my Ayurveda school and don’t know of the availability yet.
Sometimes knowing who or what your stars are helps; mine are my wife, my family, my faith, ayurveda & yoga; making time to be with them, enveloping myself in the familiar warmth of my beliefs helps me cope in a world that feels like it is getting darker everyday. Who or what are your stars? What is getting you through the darkness?
